Definitions

The following table contains important definitions for understanding this document.

AuthorizationSignifies that the card-issuing authority is requested about the matter if the
concerned card or account with the entered amount can becharged. If a positive
answer is returned, the credit limit will be chargedwith the amount.
ClearingIs the charging of an already authorised amount.
Automatically clearingSignifies that authorised amounts of a card-issuing authority are directly charged.
Manually clearingSignifies that the authorised amounts are charged on a later date by themerchant.
This can be useful if the customer should only be chargedafter shipping the order
or if the transaction should be checked manually before charging. An authorization
is normally only valid for 14 days.
